Richmond
Meeting in the Historic
Region
Metropolitan Richmond is located in the center
of the state, within a two-hour drive of the
Atlantic
Ocean, the Blue Ridge Mountains or the nation’s
capital.
Since the Second Virginia
Convention was held in Richmond in 1775 when
Patrick Henry
delivered his “Give me liberty or give me
death” speech, the city has been host to
major events.
With a total of 700,000 square
feet of space covering five city blocks, The Greater
Richmond Convention Center is the largest convention
center in Virginia. The downtown facility is centrally
located among 14,300 hotel rooms, near the State
Capitol and many other historic attractions.
Whether one’s passion
is history, arts, gardens, antiques, fine dining,
outdoor recreation, theme parks or NASCAR,
there
appears to be something for everyone in the Richmond
region.

buildings, including a 128,000-square-foot convention
center that can seat 9,310 people theater style.
The complex also offers an additional 8,400 square
feet of meeting space in eight rooms. The largest
of these rooms can handle a banquet for 140 people
or a theater-style meeting for 400 people.
