MEETINGS OF CAPITAL PROPORTIONS
Meetings in Northern Virginia probably got their
first major start when Virginia patriots stopped
at Mount Vernon to meet with George Washington.
Important meetings continue to
be held today at Mount Vernon, as well as in all
parts of Northern Virginia. While gatherings are
often related to national politics or national
associations headquartered in the area, organizations
with absolutely no ties to Washington hold meetings
and conferences in Northern Virginia because there
is so much to see and do, and because accommodations,
meeting facilities and travel are so outstanding.
In fact, visitors from
around the world—whether they have an interest
in the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, art,
museums, national monuments or modern pursuits
such as shopping, dining and entertainment, as
well as outdoor recreation, meet here. After all,
meeting in the nation’s capital generates
an excitement like no other place.
