Convention Center Near
Completion
Construction is advancing on the 344,000-square-foot
Hampton Roads Convention Center that is slated
to open in May 2005. When open, more than 1,600
hotel rooms will be within walking distance.
Features of the facility include
a 108,000-square-foot exhibit hall, a 28,000-square-foot
grand ballroom with a banquet capacity of 2,000
and a total of 35 meeting rooms to serve planner
break-out needs. Located on the same campus, the
Hampton Coliseum offers 84,000 square feet of
arena and meeting space, accommodating up to 11,000
people.
Nautical in design, the Hampton
Roads Convention Center is located at the geographic
center of the Hampton Roads region, positioned
between Williamsburg, Newport News, Norfolk, Portsmouth
and Virginia Beach. Water recreation, historic
landmarks and African-American heritage sites
enrich the Hampton visitor experience.
Hampton CVB customizes
all meeting services based on the needs of
the convening group.
Hampton’s staff meets with the event planner
to determine the assistance most needed by the
meeting group. Planners are encouraged to submit
an RFP on www.hamptoncvb.com.
