Situated along the shores of Smith Mountain Lake in the Blue Ridge mountains of Southwest Virginia, Mariners Landing is a planned resort community. In 1766, The Homestead began offering visitors an incomparable retreat ... an incredibly spectacular escape located in the beauty of Virginia’s Allegheny Mountains. The resort features more than 72,000 square feet of state-of-the-art function space in 28 meeting rooms, which can host up to 1,000 people banquet style and 1,200 theater style. There are 506 guest rooms, 77 of which are suites ranging from $100 to $250. Expanded digital cell phone access for the area is new, as well as large screen televisions with built-in VCRs and game stations in all guest rooms and suites.

The Homestead boasts 15,000 acres of relaxation and recreation. Choose from dozens of activities - from such indoor pursuits as bowling, billiards and movies in a turn-of-the-century theatre, to outdoor adventures that include mountain biking, shooting (with a new club house and pavilion for the Shooting Sports Club), and fly fishing. And, for those looking for relaxation, there is a full-service European style spa and salon featuring massages, mineral baths, facials, manicures and much more for both men and women.

The resort features three golf courses, including the famed Cascades Course, (which recently restored and enhanced its locker rooms), a spectacular outdoor pool and bath house facility, spring-fed indoor pool, canoeing, carriage and horseback riding, 100 miles of hiking and mountain biking trails, guided gorge hike, afternoon tea, KidsClub program, tennis, paintball, hayrides, leadership course (ropes course), skiing, snowboarding, tubing, guided snowmobile rides (all enhanced by a new multimillion dollar snowmaking system and reservoir), and much more. A Chesapeake tradition, The Tides Inn is located in the quiet town of Irvington on a bluff overlooking Carter’s Creek and onto the Rappahannock River. Just 40 miles from Charlottesville in Virginia’s picturesque Blue Ridge Mountains sits Wintergreen, a four-season resort and conference center.

At 11,000 acres, Wintergreen is larger than some national parks. The resort offers 300 condominiums ranging in size from cozy one-bedroom villas to luxurious five-bedroom homes. All have working fireplaces and full kitchens, with rates varying from $125 to $750.

Wintergreen features 40,000 square feet of meeting space in 15 meeting rooms and other settings that can accommodate up to 500 people banquet style, 600 theater style and 800 for a reception.

A full-service banquet department, state-of-the-art audio-visual equipment and a complete business center support the facilities. In addition, free wireless Internet service is offered.

Wintergreen also offers an adventure park that features in-line skating, mountain biking, team paintball, a 25-foot climbing tower and a ropes course. The Mid-Atlantic’s first high speed six-passenger chairlift as well as The Plunge, the resort’s mega tubing park, add to the fun. Plus, the addition of a new six passenger high-speed lift and additional terrain along with continued enhancements to the resort’s 100% computerized snowmaking equipment will make the upcoming season a season not to be missed.

Wintergreen’s indoor activities include a spa and fitness center with state-of-the-art exercise equipment, an aerobics studio, pools, hot tubs and a full selection of spa treatments. Wintergreen Spa & Fitness Center is in the middle of an expansion with the addition of 14 treatment rooms with two designated as “wet” treatment rooms, as well as new men’s and women’s locker rooms and a new quiet area/lounge.

Four restaurants satisfy all tastes in atmosphere that range from casual to elegant. Each restaurant and lounge has either mountain or golf course views. Alfresco dining is a highlight of the spring, summer and fall months.

Golf Digest ranks Wintergreen’s courses in the nation’s top 50 in terms of service, and for 17 consecutive years Tennis magazine has ranked Wintergreen among the nation’s top 50 tennis programs.
