Best Buy Inc., a Minneapolis-based retailer of consumer electronics, signed a lease for 30,000 square feet of retail space at Bell Creek Commons in Mechanicsville. (News release)

Dick’s Sporting Goods, a national retailer of sporting apparel and outdoors equipment, signed a lease for 45,000 square feet of retail space in Coleman Marketplace Shopping Center in Danville. (News release)

iDirect Inc., a Herndon-based provider of satellite-based broadband services, will expand its presence at Presidents Park I in Herndon by 18,000 square feet by June 2008. The company occupies 43,000 square feet at Presidents Park II. The deal will make Presidents Park I, owned by Republic Property Trust of Washington, D.C., 95 percent leased. (Business Wire)

Liberty Property Trust is building a speculative Class A office building in Chesapeake’s Battlefield Corporate Center. The three-story, 75,000-square-foot, multi-tenant structure will be completed in the first quarter of 2008. (News release)

LTD Management Co. of Chesapeake will contract a Residence Inn by Marriott facility in downtown Norfolk. The nine-story, 160-all suites hotel will break ground this fall with a scheduled opening at the end of 2008. (News release)

The New Century Venture Center, a business incubator, moved from Roanoke to a mixed office and warehouse facility in Salem to offer more warehouse and manufacturing space. Current tenants will stay in Roanoke until the end of their lease periods, from one to six months, with renewable clauses. (News Release)
