AeroAstro Inc., an Ashburn provider of satellite technology and services, won a contract from NASA to develop electronic satellite communication systems with much finer redundancy by using reusable circuit blocks. (PRNewswire)

The Equal Footing Foundation of Herndon, the charitable arm of the Northern Virginia Technology Council, chose Wills & Associates Inc. of Bethesda, Md., as its public relations agency. Wills will help the foundation increase awareness of the Computer Clubhouse, an after-school education program for youth ages 8-18 in Northern Virginia. (PRNewswire)

LevelVison, a Roanoke-based producer of digital advertising displays (formerly known as IntelliMat) entered a partnership with Roanoke athletic apparel distributor C&N Sports to market LevelVision’s IntelliMat digital floor displays to approximately 750 colleges bookstores nationwide. Interstate Hotels & Resorts, an Arlington hotel management company, formed a joint venture with Maryland’s Meisel Capital Partners to buy the Radisson Hotel Cross Keys in Baltimore for $17 million. MicroStrategy, a McLean-based provider of business intelligence software, renewed a marketing and joint business development deal with SPSS Inc. of Chicago, a provider of analytic software, to create forecasting models for businesses. (PRNewswire) MicroStrategy also secured deals with KB Toys Inc. for software to track inventory; with shipping firm DHL Express to provide analysis services in sales, marketing and other operations; and with Priceline.com to track search engine marketing data to target online advertising efforts. Orbital Sciences Corp., a Dulles provider of satellite operations, received an order from Optus Networks of Australia for a communications satellite to provide director television broadcasting services to Australia and New Zealand . Delivery is scheduled for 2009. (News release)

Royal Caribbean International, a Miami-based cruise line operator just beginning its first season in Norfolk, announced it will return to Norfolk in 2008. Based on strong bookings for its inaugural season, Royal Caribbean will service Norfolk departures with a larger ship. (The Virginia-Pilot)

Trainikins Inc. of Lynchburg entered into a distribution agreement in Japan with IMI CO. Ltd to sell a version of its CPR Teddy, an instructive tool to teach parents how to treat a child who is choking or has stopped breathing. (News release)

Virginia reached agreement with a construction consortium led by Bechtel Inc. to begin expansion of the Metro rail line to Washington Dulles International Airport. Cost estimate for first phase of the project by Dulles Transit Partners is between $2.4 and 2.7 billion. (The Washington Post)
