AAA of Tidewater bought two adjoining properties
in Suffolk
for a combined $1.85 million to build an office on
a 12.5 acre site on Bridge Road. (The Virginian-Pilot)
Carilion Health System began the second phase
of construction at its Riverside Center
in Roanoke. The project will increase office space in the first building
to 100,000 square feet. The center is part of the
Riverside Centre for Research and Technology in Roanoke.
When completed, the Centre will have eight buildings
with a total of 1.1 million square feet of space. (Press

HCA Inc., a medical facility operator based
in Nashville, bought 60 acres in Goochland County
for $10.5 million from West Creek Associates.
HCA, which operates six hospitals in the Richmond
area, plans to build a medical facility in the West
Creek office park. The exact nature of the facility

FLEXA Furniture Inc.,
a Danish manufacturer of children’s furniture, bought
9.5 acres at the Suffolk
Industrial Park to build an 88,000-square-foot
production and warehouse facility. The company will
spend about $6 million on the first phase of the facility.
The site will offer space for another potential 69,000-square-foot

Pugh Lubricants bought a 4-acre site at Suffolk Industrial
Park to build a $2.5 million, 39,000-squre-foot
office and distribution center. Pugh, based in Asheville, N.C., is a distributor of lubricants throughout the Southeast. (Press

Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority sold
the former Miller & Rhoads department store for
$2.74 million to developers who want to create a new
downtown hotel. ECI Investment Advisors Inc. of Illinois
and Historic Restoration Inc. of Louisiana
plan an $80 million conversion of the site into a 240-room
