Bon Secours Richmond Health System was named on the 2006 list of Top 30 Companies for Executive Women by The National Association of Female Executives. Bon Secours scored the highest marks allowed in representation of women, spending on health care, child care, and formal programs encouraging advancement, and availability of work/life programs for professional women. The College of William & Mary will name the building at the school’s new business school for Alan B. Miller, co-founder, chairman and president of Universal Health Services Inc., a hospital-management firm with $4.5 billion in revenues. Miller, who lives in Philadelphia, is a 1958 graduate of W&M. CRT/tanaka, a Richmond public relations firm, was ranked third nationally among Most Admired PR firms by The Holmes Report, and was also in the top 10 Best Mid-Size PR Agencies to Work For. The survey was based on responses from 4,500 PR professionals across the country. (Press release)

John Hewitt, founder and CEO of Liberty Tax Service in Virginia Beach, was named Entrepreneur of the Year by The International Franchise Association to honor his lifetime achievement in the tax services field and contributions to franchising. (Press release)

Shenandoah University named its future $12 million facility for its business school Halpin-Harrison Hall.  The building will be named after Washington, D.C.-area developer Gerald Halpin, who donated $3 million for the project, and Stan and Doris Harrison, who served on the university’s Board of Trustees.  (The Winchester Star)

The University of Virginia Medical Center and Winchester Medical Center were listed among the country’s top 100 hospitals in Solucient’s annual ranking of America’s top hospitals. UVa was among 15 teaching hospitals and Winchester among 20 large community hospitals included in the rankings. (Press release)

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership was awarded the Gold Award from Business Facilities magazine for the Philip Morris USA Research and Technology Center in Richmond. The $300 million project, announced, in April 2005, won for the biggest deal in the $150-$300 million category. (Press release)
