development projects in the Williamsburg region Virginia Business

Renovation at Crowne Plaza Williamsburg
at Fort Magruder
The Crowne Plaza Williamsburg at Fort
Magruder Hotel recently underwent a $4 million renovation
of its 303
rooms. It also offers 26,000 square feet of meeting space.
The hotel is one mile from Colonial Williamsburg on the
site of Fort Magruder, the scene of a Civil War battle.
Williamsburg Lodge expanding
The Williamsburg
Lodge at Colonial Williamsburg is completing a major
expansion and renovation. The hotel is adding
136 guest rooms for a total of 323. A new conference
center also is under construction next to the hotel.
It will provide 45,000 square feet of flexible space
and 31 function rooms. These projects are part of more
than $100 million of improvements at Colonial Williamsburg
properties since 2000.
Mixed-use development under construction
New Town, a 365-acre mixed-use “New Urbanism” community,
is going up in James City County. The project is a joint
venture between The Endowment Association of the College
of William & Mary and C.C. Casey Limited Co. The
project includes a 64-acre Discovery Business Park. New
Town also will have 500,000 square feet of office and
research space. Its 1,000 residences will range from
loft apartments to traditional homes. The first three
buildings in the town center have been completed and
another three are under construction.
High Street mixed-use project on track
High Street in Williamsburg is
a mixed-use development that will offer close to 250,000
square feet of retail
space, anchored by a seven-screen and 1,200-seat cinema
café. The residential area will offer three housing
options: luxury single-family homes, town homes and a
mid-rise condominium building with 500 luxury units.
