The selection process
A six-member panel selected this year’s winners of the Virginia Business CFO of the Year Award.

The outside judges included Jorge Haddock, dean of the Robins School of Business at the University of Richmond; Monique T. Valentine, chief financial officer of the Associated General Contractors of America in Arlington; W. Randolph Spears, senior vice president and chief financial officer of the YMCA of Greater Richmond. Representing the magazine were Publisher Douglas Forshey, Editor Robert Powell and Special Projects Editor Jessica Sabbath.

Nominations were accepted from March 1 through April 30. Entries were required to document the nominees’ contributions to the company’s growth and profitability, other areas of corporate management and the community.
This year’s winners will be asked to serve on next year’s panel of judges.
Event sponsors are Marsh USA and RSM McGladrey. The event is presented in cooperation with Financial Executives International and the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants.
