Virginia Business
January 2006

Virginia minority-owned companies are performing well in national competition. A ranking of the country’s 500 best-performing minority-owned companies by DiversityBusiness.com, a multicultural business Web site, included several Virginia businesses.

Five companies were among the top 100 finishers this year, including Omega World Travel, a woman-owned provider of corporate and government travel services based in Fairfax. Omega World Travel took the No. 4 spot with $1.24 billion in revenue in 2004.

Other companies on the list include: Thompson Hospitality, an African-American-owned firm in Herndon, which finished No. 36 with $142 million in revenues, and Dataline Inc., a Hispanic-American, woman-owned business in Norfolk with $83.6 million in revenues, which came in at No. 70 on the overall list and No. 26 on another list of the 500 top diversity-owned small businesses.
