Following up on its plans to be a liaison
between major corporations and small Asian-American companies,
the Virginia

owners from around Virginia an opportunity to meet with
diversity supplier managers from companies such as Northrop
Grumman and Dominion Resources. The Around
the Old Dominion section of October's issue looked at the development
of the organization, formerly called the Asian American
Business Assistance Center.

Bridges, the executive director of the Port
of Oakland, will become executive director of the Virginia
Port Authority in January. He will succeed the retiring
J. Robert Bray who has worked for the port for the past
39 years. Also, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has
given final approval to VPA's Craney
Island project,
which would be developed into a fourth state-owned terminal.
Virginia Business looked at the future

Tim Donahue, the chairman of Reston-based Sprint Nextel
Corp., will retire at the end of the year. The announcement
was made as the company continued to cope with a lagging
stock price and problems related to the 2005 merger of
telecommunications companies Sprint and Nextel. The magazine
examined the potential
pitfalls of the merger in its
November 2005 issue.
