John P. Bowers, named senior vice president, First Bank & Trust, Staunton. Bowers joined First Bank & Trust in 2001. Previously he was a vice president at Planters Bank & Trust. (News release)

James S. Cross, named interim dean, College of Business and Economics, Longwood University, Farmville. Cross was associate dean of the School of Technology at Michigan Technological University. He taught at Longwood from 1986 to 1994. (News release)

Mark Culwell, named senior vice president of development, United Dominion Realty Trust Inc., Richmond. Culwell was most recently regional vice president of development for Gables Residential, and has held positions at Elsinore Group LLC and Trammell Crow Co. (News release)

Larry DePriest, named vice president of Sentara Healthcare and administrator of Sentara Bayside Hospital, announced plans to retire at the end of the year. DePriest was administrator of Sentara Leigh Hospital from 2001 to 2005, and previously served as president and CEO of Danville Regional Health System. (News release)

Art Doloresco, named CEO, Danville Regional Medical Center, Danville. He previously helped recruit interim managers for Hospital Interim Management LLC of Phoenix, and was president of HCA Inc.’s Kentucky Division. (Danville Register & Bee)

Thomas P. Dunne, named chairman of SteelCloud Inc., Herndon, resigned as a result of a probe by the board’s audit committee into matters pertaining to the exercise of stock options held by Dunne. (PRNewswire)

Michael A. Ernst, named executive vice president, treasurer and CFO, United Dominion Realty Trust Inc., Richmond. Ernst was previously with Prentiss Properties Trust where he was executive vice president and CFO. (News release)

Donald Jellig, named president of Sentara Enterprises and vice president of Sentara Healthcare, announced his retirement. Jellig has worked at Sentara since 1985.  He was previously president of CHART Information Services of Albany, N.Y. (News release)

Joseph W. Luter III, chairman and CEO, Smithfield Foods, Smithfield, announced his retirement as CEO. He will remain as non-executive chairman of the board. Luter assumed both positions in 1975. C. Larry Pope, now president and COO, who joined the company in 1980 and became CFO in 2000, will succeed him. (The Virginian-Pilot)

Michael D. Maddocks, named senior vice president and regional executive officer, Old Point National Bank, Williamsburg. Maddocks was previously with SunTrust Bank. (News release)

Maria B. Marston, named member of the firm, Witt Mares, Newport News. Marston has been with Witt Mares since 1994 and serves as leader of the Construction Industry Services Team. (News release)

Oscar P. Ryder, named senior vice president, McLaughlin Investments LLC, Alexandria. Ryder was previously senior vice president in the Alexandria office of Morgan Stanley. (News release)

Michael O’Hara, founder, chairman and CEO of the AB&C Group, McLean, announced his retirement. O’Hara founded the company in 1972 as Advanced Business and Computer Supplies and Services Inc. (News release)

Grayson Owen, named CFO, Shamin Hotels, Richmond. Owen joined the company in 2000. He was previously an audit and tax supervisor for KPMG and Hamilton Beach/Proctor-Silex. (News release)

Doug Walker, named senior vice president, United Dominion Realty Trust, Richmond. Walker was previously president of Harwood Pacific. (News release)
