bought assets of Anteon Corp.’s program management
and engineering services businesses. The Anteon unit
provides technical and operations support to the
Department of Defense. The deal gives Alion several

Beach office technology company, bought Acme Business
Machines of Roanoke, a retailer of office hardware such as
printers and copiers. Electronic Systems already has
a presence in the Roanoke
market, but the acquisition is not expected to lead

Landmark Communications Inc., a Norfolk-based
media company, bought BusinessBroker.net of Atlanta,
an online provider of marketplace information about
businesses for sale, commercial real estate property
and franchise opportunities. The acquisition gives

Lillian Vernon Corp., a White Plains, N.Y.-based
catalog and online retailer whose distribution center
is located in Virginia Beach, was
bought by Sun Capital Partners Inc., an investment
firm headquartered in Florida. Lillian Vernon’s employment levels, which
vary from 600 to 3,500 during the winter holidays,

Pell Paper Co., a box manufacturer based in
Elizabeth City, N.C., announced plans to merge with Carder
Graphics of Staunton and move its operations to
Virginia. The need for a larger building prompted the
move to Staunton;
some of the company’s approximately 30 workers may
