AgustaWestland Inc. and AgustaWestland Bell, helicopter manufacturers headquartered in Europe, will consolidate their operations in Reston. The $2 million investment will create 300 jobs. Virginia competed with Maryland for the investment. (Press release)

America Online, a Dulles-based Internet services provider, will split into four divisions as part of an organizational and financial restructuring. The four divisions will focus on selling advertising services (Audience), marketing AOL’s online services for consumers (Access), premium services (Digital Services), and AOL Europe. In addition, three top executives, Lisa Hook, head of broadband operations, vice chairman Joseph A. Ripp, and CFO Michael J. Kelly are leaving the company. (The Washington Post)

Charah Inc., a Louisville, Ky., provider of ash management services for coal-fired electric utility operations, will invest $3 million in Emporia to bag and distribute ash-based concrete mix under the PakMix trade name. Charah expects to hire 28 workers and open in the first quarter of 2005. Virginia competed with North Carolina for the investment. (Press release)

Global Contact Services will invest $1 million to set up a call center in Saltville with 200 jobs. Global Contact Services also operates a facility in Pulaski County. Virginia competed with North Carolina, South Carolina and West Virginia for the project. (Press release)

M.C. Dean Inc., a Chantilly provider of complex electronics and telecommunications systems, will locate an electronics distribution and fabrication facility in Carolina County. The $6.7 million investment will mean 40 jobs. Virginia competed with Maryland for the investment. (Press release)

CTS&I Inc., a Roanoke manufacturer of millwork products for the residential and commercial markets, will invest $4.1 million to open CTS&I Millwork Inc. in Rocky Mount. The project will create 150 jobs. Virginia competed with North Carolina for the investment. (Press release)
