The Martin Agency, a Richmond-based
ad agency, signed a deal to help the Speed Channel,
a cable television network that covers motor sports,
to develop a prime-time show about the NASCAR racing
circuit. Martin is already the ad agency of record for
NASCAR. Martin also lost its account with Quiznos Subs,
which parted company with the agency after 14 months,
citing creative differences. (Richmond Times-Dispatch)
The Nature Conservancy, an environmental
advocacy group based in Arlington, reached an agreement
to manage more than 9,800 acres of forestland in Tazewell
County owned by A.M. “Smiley” Ratliff. In addition to
restoring the land as an Appalachian forest region protected
from subdivision, the area will be managed as a working
forest under ecological guidelines. These forestry operations
will provide the basis for lease payments to the landowner.
