Jaycee award to recognize work of young professioinal

The Virginia Jaycees are accepting nominations for the Outstanding Young Virginian Award.

Beth Fujishige, president of the Virginia Jaycees, says the award is presented to business leaders between the ages of 21 and 40 whose achievements best exemplify the state’s young professionals.

Past recipients of the award include Del. Brian J. Moran of Alexandria, NASCAR driver Elliott Sadler of Emporia and state Appeals Court Judge Elizabeth McClanahan of Richmond. Winners are eligible for the national Ten Outstanding Young American awards.

The award will be presented in Herndon on May 14. The deadline for nominations is April 8. Applications are available at www.va-jaycees.org. They may be electronically submitted at vajaycees1@aol.com or mailed to: Virginia Jaycees, 1015 Miller Park Square, Lynchburg, VA 24501. Virginia Business is a sponsor of the award.
