FoodTech International Inc.
of New Haven, Conn., a manufacturer of refrigerated
vegetarian and soy foods, plans to open a food
processing facility in Greensville County Industrial
Park. The $4.5 million investment is expected
to create 80 jobs while producing the Veggie
Patch line of veggie burgers, meatballs and
other products. Virginia competed with Connecticut,
Maryland, Georgia and Florida for the project.

Tredegar Corp., a Richmond-based
manufacturer of plastic films and aluminum extrusions,
plans to move the research and development and
technical centers of its Tredegar Film Products
subsidiary from Terre Haute, Ind., and Lake
Zurich, Ill., to Richmond. Greater efficiency
is expected to result from a more centralized
operation. Approximately 40 workers will be
based in the new Richmond center, some of whom
are expected to be transfers from the old facilities.
The Terre Haute technical facility will operate
with lower staffing, while operations in Lake
