Richmond, Roanoke law firms merge

Virginia Business
May 2004

One of the state’s biggest law firms is getting bigger. Richmond-based LeClair Ryan is picking up a presence in the Roanoke and Blacksburg markets in a merger with the 19-member firm of Flippin, Densmore, Morse and Jessee.

The new firm, which will be known as LeClair Ryan Flippin Densmore, will have 132 lawyers. That makes it the state’s fifth largest behind four other Richmond-based firms, led by Hunton & Williams, with 346 lawyers.

The new firm will have lawyers in Richmond, Roanoke, Blacksburg, Alexandria, Charlottesville, Glen Allen and Washington, D.C. “Our clients have increasingly regional and national legal needs,” said Doug Densmore in a statement announcing the merger. “This merger allows us to accommodate our growth and those client demands more effectively.”
