Advanced Polyurethane Technologies, a manufacturer of polyurethane rubber boots, chose Mecklenburg County as the site for its new operations. Through an investment of $1.26 million, 180 new jobs are expected within five years. Virginia competed with North Carolina, New Hampshire, Ohio, Texas and the United Kingdom for the project. Globaltex Inc., a provider of custom yarns for the furniture industry, chose Henry County as the site for its U.S. textile manufacturing operations. The company will invest $5.2 million to purchase a 77,000-square-foot facility previously owned by VF, and plans to create 154 new jobs in three years. Virginia competed with North Carolina and South Carolina for the project. (Press release)

Lockheed Martin, a Bethesda, Md., defense contractor, announced plans to build a $30 million computer-based modeling, simulation and integration center in Suffolk. The investment is expected to create 50 new jobs over a three-year period. (Press release)

MZM Inc., a Washington, D.C.-based technology company, chose Martinsville to establish a database and IT facility to complete a contract for the U.S. Army National Ground Intelligence Center in Charlottesville. The company will invest $4.4 million and is expected to create 150 new jobs over three years. Virginia competed with Washington, D.C., for the project. (Press release)
