Costs delay Eli Lilly plant

Citing higher-than-expected costs, Eli Lilly and Co. recently announced that it would delay its two-year-old plan to build an insulin-producing plant in Prince William County. The pharmaceutical giant, based in Indianapolis, planned to start construction this summer on a 60,000-square-foot facility just west of Manassas. Despite the setback, a company spokesperson said that a design review was in the works and the $425 million project, expected to eventually employ 700 people, will likely go forward.
