| Minding Your Business Tracking sports statistics is no longer a pencil-and-paper affair. Richmond-based Score Technol-ogies has developed a hand-held device that digitally records and tracks statistics for coaches, fans and athletes.
The first product line, Statscreen, debuted in March 1999. The Basketball Statscreen compiles statistics such as shooting percentages, turnovers, and points. The 6-by-10-inch hand-held device features custom keypads that guide users to specific screens. It also can be hooked up to a PC. A second generation Basketball Statscreen and the Statscreen Scorecard, which covers baseball, debuted this fall. Score is developing Statscreens for other sports such as football and soccer. Tossing out the pad and pencil wont come cheaply the Statscreens are $549 each and are shipped from the companys Richmond office. Individuals can order by calling the company directly or by going through one of the companys team dealers, who distribute to coaches in 42 states.
