Business parks
Part of the reason companies in Hampton are seeing success

parks. There are key business parks throughout the city
each with digital switching offices, SONET and ATM technologies.
Hampton Roads Center South Campus is enjoying success
with the additions of Science Systems and Applications
Inc., Lockheed Martin, Riverside Healthcare Ambulatory
Surgery Center, and Hampton University’s $200
million Proton Beam Cancer Treatment Facility, which
is one of only five in the U.S.
Work force
Hampton has an ample pool of highly educated and skilled
labor. There are more than 17,000 military separatees
entering the work force in Hampton Roads every year
and the civilian labor force in the region exceeds 800,000.
Hampton is also home to the Peninsula Workforce Development
Center, which provides employer-driven work-force services
and offers world-class training programs, state-of-the
art facilities and a team of experienced professionals
to meet training needs.
