Meeting and Conference Destinations:
Norfolk

A downtown cluster of prime meeting spots
Vibrant downtown Norfolk is the place to hold a meeting. The city’s revitalized downtown waterfront area boasts 1,000 hotel rooms within walking distance of more than 176,000 square feet of meeting space. The area has become so prime for meetings and conferences, that it’s called the “Waterside Convention Connection,” where the Sheraton Norfolk Waterside Hotel, the Norfolk Marriott Waterside, the Waterside Convention Center, Radisson Hotel Norfolk and the Waterside Festival Marketplace together offer 55 high-tech, versatile meeting rooms, providing conference goers plenty of locations to choose from. The adjacent Norfolk Scope offers another 80,000 square feet of meeting space.
Norfolk also offers many unique meeting venues, for those looking to hold an event that is a little different. They include holding meetings aboard ships such as the Schooner Virginia and Spirit of Norfolk, the Chrysler Hall Performing Arts Theater, the upscale Fahrenheit Restaurant & Bar, the 91-year-old Granby Theater and the Norfolk Botanical Garden.

The area offers visitors plenty to do – all within walking distance of their hotels and conference facilities. Within 10 square blocks of the “convention connection,” conference goers can visit the theater and restaurant district, see more than 30,000 pieces of art at the Chrysler Museum of Art, go antiquing or take a harbor cruise. The area also includes Nauticus, the National Maritime Museum, which houses the USS Wisconsin. Guests can also learn about the area’s military aboard the Victory Rover on the Elizabeth River for a chance to view aircraft carriers, submarines and destroyers at Naval Station Norfolk, the world’s largest naval base.
