Calming beauty at the base of the Blue Ridge
Wytheville offers visitors a refreshing atmosphere with
plenty of historic sites, natural beauty and charming
shops. Located in Southwest Virginia at the base of
the Blue Ridge Mountains, Wytheville is the perfect
location, with its calming beauty and an abundance of
outdoor recreational activities. The area includes miles
of biking and vigorous hiking trails, kayaking opportunities
and calm fishing spots. Visitors can also soak in the
area’s natural beauty by driving along the Big
Walker National Forest Scenic Byway.
The area offers guests a variety of unique experiences,
including the chance to explore organic herbs and trails
at the Beagle Ridge Herb Farm, pet animals at the 45-acre
Fort Chiswell Animal Park, sing along with a musical
performance at Wohlfahrt Haus Dinner Theatre and mine
for emeralds, amethysts and gold at Virginia City &
Gem Mine. Meeting hotels include the local Holiday Inn
and the Ramada Inn. The Wytheville Meeting Center will
triple the amount of meeting space available in town
when it opens in 2007.

Opening in early 2007, the Wytheville Meeting Center
will provide conference attendees meeting space against
the backdrop of the serene Blue Ridge Mountains. As
part of a multi-faceted complex including recreation,
aquatics and child-care facilities, the center offers
more than just meeting space equipped with the latest
media projection and teleconferencing capabilities.
The adjacent facilities allow meeting planners the opportunity
to include teambuilding exercises and a chance for conference
goers to unwind. The meeting center will provide 12,000
square feet of meeting space, tripling the amount of
meeting space currently available in Wytheville. It
will include a 9,000-square-foot ballroom able to seat
500 for a banquet and 1,000 in a theater-style setting.
There are more than 1,200 hotel rooms within a one-mile
radius of the future center’s location. The center
will be easily accessible, located at the intersection
of Interstates 77 and 81, and adjacent to the Wytheville
Community College.
